At Oxfordshire, thousands of visitors from all over flocked to attend the sixth annual Wantage (Not Just) Betjeman Literary Festival.

This year, the event holds celebrity scientists and historians as their special guests. A few notable ones are novellist Victoria Hislop, historian Dr. Janina Ramirez, and Dr. Helen Pilcher, a stem cell biologist.

The event, according to reports, is considered as a major boost for Wantage's profile, cites Herald Series. The marketing manager of the event, Stevie Barratt, says that it was a "wonderful occasion." He explains that the talks lined up, in addition to the workshops and performances from the program is going to intrigue Oxfordshire visitors.

The event invites people from all over and history lovers, to boot. The talk led by University professor Janina Ramirez on the history of the Dark Ages was even sold out. But the event is not only focused on history. Notable writers such as Top Gear writer Paul Kerensa attended the event to hold a stand up comedy show.

BBC Coast presenter Nicholas Crane also introduced a poetry performance at the museum. The poetry was based on his new book "The Making of the British Landscape."

Young students and professionals who are budding writers can also get the chance to pitch ideas to literary agents at the event.

These celebrity scientists, historians, writers and more came from notable schools and universities. And with their help, they are putting Wantage on the map for more visitors. It also enables the locals to enjoy history.
