Gamers have their hopes dashed when rumors about "The Elder Scrolls 6" were shot down by Bethesda executive Pete Hines.

The VP for PR and Marketing of the game studio, Hines, repeated that they are not in the process of developing "TES6." He also answered rumors that the game may already be in pre-alpha stage by bluntly saying that no one is working on it. This may be true, as the studio is just about to release the remastered version of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim."

Rumors about "The Elder Scrolls 6" is not uncommon, and the folks over at Bethesda have repeatedly cleared this so as not to raise the expectations of fans, but having a statement directly from Hines guarantees that there's really nothing to substantiate these rumors.

Digital Spy recapped an exchange between Hines and some fans regarding the game, confirming that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is currently not a priority of the studio, as they have other titles slated to be made. They are working on at least two or three more titles before even thinking about "Skyrim's" successor.

Another proof that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is still far from reality is the scheduled release of the remastered "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." It will be launched this Friday, Oct. 28 and packaged as the "Skyrim Special Edition." GameSpot reported that Hines even posted a fake doctor's note for everyone to use prior to the release. This is a familiar PR move by him, as he published a similar doctor's note when "Fallout 4" was released.

There was a four-year gap between "Skyrim" and its predecessor, "Oblivion." "Skyrim" was released last 2011, so with that trend, "The Elder Scrolls 6" should have been released last year. For now, fans and avid gamers could just enjoy the remastered "Skyrim," which will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
