Despite the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, Samsung seems to be on a roll. The company's system chips business has begun mass production of semiconductors using a cutting edge 10-nanometre technology in order to squeeze more elements on a chip.

The chips are rumored to be comparatively powerful and more energy efficient than the current designs. Samsung is the first to mass produce them. Not too long ago, the South Korean company announced that it is prepping to launch a tech device early next year which will use chips made with its 10-nanometre production technology. If rumors doing rounds are anything to go by, Samsung's Galaxy S8 could be the first recipient.

Samsung will be the only contract manufacturer of Qualcomm Inc's high-end Snapdragon 830 chip using 10-nanometre production technology, and these processors will be used in half of the company's next Galaxy S slated to launch in 2017, according to Korea's ET News.

Meanwhile, rumors are running rampant indicating that Samsung will announce the smartphone on February 26, 2016. Interestingly, the announced date for the Galaxy S8 is scheduled just one day before Mobile World Congress starts. Samsung already have its hands full placing component orders for the Galaxy S8, The Korea Herald reported.

The highly anticipated launch of the Galaxy S8 is decisive on several levels. First off, the new flagship could definitely be company's saving grace. It's no secret that Samsung is looking to redeem itself in the smartphone market in the wake of the massive Galaxy Note 7 recall induced by combustion issues.

Rumors are rife that the Galaxy S8 will boast an array of awe-inspiring features that makes the smartphone worth waiting for:

• The Galaxy S8 will sport Edge-To-Edge Display without a physical home button.
• The smartphone is expected to come with 4K resolution screen.
• It will feature dual-lens cameras.
• The device is rumored to pack Exynos 8895 (internationally) and Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 Chipsets (U.S.).
• USB-C Audio will replace the headphone jack.
• The device will ship with the ARM Mali-G71 Graphics Chip.
• It will be available in two display sizes, and both will feature edge screen.
