Winter is indeed coming to Season 7 of HBO's adaptation of George R. R. Martin's "Game of Thrones." Rumors of a wedding are in the works for the coming season.

The Season 6 finale episode was literally explosive via wildfire courtesy of Cersei. The explosion in King's Landing effectively wiping out the Great Seph of Baelor along with the High Sparrow was truly contemptible. Not long after, King Tommen killed himself by falling off a window. All hail queen Cersei.

One pivotal scene in Season 6's end episode is of Bran's vision in the Tower of Joy. We saw a bleeding Lyanna Stark with her brother Ned Stark by her side. She just gave birth to a son, Jon Snow. If Ned is not his father, then who is? Lyanna whispered his identity to Ned along with a certain promise she asked of Ned before she died. That promise was never revealed in the published books. Ned Stark is dead, which leaves Bran Stark as the sole person who knows, well, in the series at least.

HBO has already divulged the identity of Jon Snow's father in HBO's official Making of Game of Thrones blog as Rhaegar Targaryen. If Jon Snow were indeed of Targaryen and Stark blood, it would make him the offspring of both ice & fire. This notion is not far-fetched notion considering the whole series of books, where the series is adapted from is called "A Song of Ice & Fire."

So what of this rumored wedding then? Based on the revelation that Jon Snow is indeed a Targaryen, he would have a legitimacy to claim the throne himself. The Mother of Dragons most assuredly will not allow him to be king, not with all what she has gone through even though she is her aunt.

Everything is still up to rumors and speculations at this point. We know that alliances and fealty are factors that make a ruler in this series strong. It is, therefore, safe to assume that Daenerys will legitimize Jon's birthright and have him remain in control of the north by having him marry Sansa Stark. Thus fulfilling what is written in "The Hedge Knight," a prequel to the series as theorized by The Huffington Post.
