The State Medical Board of Ohio has suspended Dr. Christopher E. Pelloski's license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio after he was arrested and charged for downloading child pornography.

The 39-year-old director of the Paediatric Radiation Oncology Program at the Ohio State University's James Cancer Center surrendered July 24, after a federal complaint was filed against him.

Pelloski of Upper Arlington has been charged federally with one count of receipt of child pornography for allegedly downloading numerous sexually explicit videos and photos of children (some under the age10) via internet.

If convicted, Pelloski might face a sentence of five to 20 years in prison. Pelloski resigned from his position July 24.

The Franklin County Internet Crimes against Children Task Force, acting on a search warrant, found more than 120 child porn images on a laptop, July 15. He is also alleged to have downloaded 10 files of child porn last October and another 59 files were downloaded through July.

However, the investigators also said that the images in question do not involve any children he treated or worked with.

Pelloski admitted to a member of a Franklin County special investigations unit that he used his personal computer and a laptop that belonged to the university to download child porn.

According to nbc, the investigation against Pelloski began October 2012 when the allegations surfaced during another investigation into online peer-to-peer file sharing programs.

Magistrate judge, Norah McCann King placed Pelloski under house arrest in suburban Upper Arlington until he received permission to leave. He has also been ordered to wear an electronic monitor, surrender his passport, not to use internet and have any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age 18.
