You know her from her antics when you tune in to "Saturday Night Live" but Amy Poehler is more than just humor and wit.

Amy Poehler was born in Newton, Massachusetts. She attended Burlington High School and graduated in 1989. She then went on to Boston College.

From there she found her skills in improvisation. She joined an improv comedy troup called "My Mother's Fleabag." Afterwards, Glamour cites, she received her bachelor's degree in Media and Communications in 1993. She then decided to move to Chicago.

The American actress, known for her improv abilities studied at Chicago's Second City. She also attended the ImprovOlympic in the early 90s. From there, she met Tina Fey. The two became the best of friends ever since.

Her degree propelled her to success. She became a part of the improv comedy troupe "Upright Citizens Brigade." Later on, the troupe itself became a half hour act on Comedy Central.

Later on, she made her way to NBC's "Saturday Night Live." She was an SNL veteran between 2001 to 2008. But she does not occupy the stage all the time. She also executive produces shows like "Welcome to Sweden." She also ran "Broad City," a show on Comedy Central. The comedic actress made her mark behind the scenes and on stage on so many levels and so many times.

Don't let her smile and funny expressions fool you. Amy Poehler has the intellect to run a show and know what makes it successful. She may be a familiar voice in "Inside Out" but she wouldn't have made her way into the industry without her degree in media and communications, and her love for improv.
