Actor Tom Hanks has been a Hollywood A-list actor for more that 3 decades now, and his film career started to take off with a little movie called, "Splash" which opened way back in 1984. Before this Hanks was cast mainly in low-budget films and appearances in television - most notable of which was his guest appearance on the hit TV show, "Happy Days" where he met director Ron Howard.

His performance on Happy Days prompted Howard to reunite with Hanks for Splash, which was a romantic comedy with the fantastical element of the existence of mermaids and Hanks was cast with actress Daryl Hannah. Hanks was first cast for a supporting role, but later found himself as the lead - the supporting role went to the late legendary actor, John Candy. The film was a surprise hit, both critically and financially.

Flash forward to 2016, and remakes of classics from the '80s have suddenly become a trend. For a while now, Disney is trying to develop a remake of Splash work. Bringing back the talent of Ron Howard and Brian Grazer into the equation. Well, it seems that they have come up with a pitch that is enticing enough to warrant production for a remake. In a report by The Film Stage, the "Jump Street" film franchise actor, Channing Tatum and his "22 Jump Street" co-star, Jillian Bell are now eyed and in talks to play the lead roles in the remake - but not the usual roles one would think of.

There is still no further news about the upcoming remake, since both Tatum and Bell are at the moment hard at work on other projects. Tatum and Bell are said ti reunite for another Jump Street sequel, while Tatum is busy with the upcoming Steven Soderbergh movie, Lucky Logan, as well as being a part of the highly-awaited Kingsman sequel, "Kingsman: The Golden Circle." There is also the Fox film, "Gambit" which is tied-in into the X-Men universe, and to which Tatum was cast for the lead role but seem to be in development hell as reported by CinemaBlend. So it would seem that fans won't immediately find a confirmation about pre-production starting anytime soon.
