Microsoft Windows 10 comes in two versions - Professional and Home. Windows 10 Pro is a corporate-friendly OS wit features that deemed convenient to business, however, it can also be used at Home. To be able to upgrade your PC to the newest version, operating system that runs into your PC should be genuine or licensed Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows 8.1.

So how do you upgrade? If you see that pop-ups from Microsoft on the lower right of your screen, simply click on that button and choose upgrade now and the download will immediately begin. You may choose to back-up your data in case of memory breakdown during the process.

What about your apps and accessories? Microsoft does not guarantee that the existing hardware and software are compatible with Windows 10. But the company, according to Fortune, is confident that most of those products will work just fine. To be sure of their compatibility, there's a "Check your PC" function offered by Windows 10 that will send you alerts in case incompatibility issues. There are applications or programs that will surely be left behind during the upgrade such as Minesweeper, Solitaire and Hearts as they will have an upgraded version in Windows 10.

The following are the system requirements listed by PC World that you need to check before the installations:

• Processor: 1 GHz or faster processor or SoC
• RAM: 1 GB for a 32-bit version or 2GB for 64-bit OS
• Hard disk space: 16GB for a 32-bit OS; 20GB for 64-bit OS
• Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
• Display: 1024 x 600

The free offer expired last July 29, 2016 which means download after the given deadline will make you pay the amount of $119.00 for Home and $190.00 for Professional. However, if you're buying a new PC or laptop for that matter, you will not going to pay the full price most especially when your new device is already installed with Windows 10.
