According to US News, people often think of sports scholarships for college are awarded to those who were the top home run hitter or the star quarterback. Not realizing that there are lists of scholarships accessible for all kinds of sports and for a broad variety of athletes and fans.

Here is a list of some college sports scholarship they may fit for you:

1)    "Buddy Pelletier Surfing Foundation Scholarship"

For those who prefer the ocean instead of the court or the field, surfers living on the East Coast may submit an application to the Buddy Pelletier Surfing Foundation Scholarship. East Coast surfing community will offer three $1,000 scholarships annually to those who want to finish their education. The funding is sent to the college choice of the winner.

2)     "Playing With Purpose Scholarship"

Athletes who have specific identities, backgrounds, and religious affiliations may apply to SportQuest 's Playing With Purpose Scholarship offering Christian student-athletes scholarships. $14,000 in scholarships is awarded yearly, where four national winners receive a $2,000 scholarship while 20 other winners receive $300 or $75 award.

3)     "The Gene and John Athletic Fund Scholarship"

LGBT-Q athletes also have a scholarship just for them. Stonewall Community Foundation's scholarship program started in 2002. It offers both $2,500 and $5,000 scholarships to LGBTQ athletes aspiring to continue their education while actively pursuing a sports career.

4)     "Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation: Advancement of Women in Sports & Entertainment Scholarship"

Women residing in the US who may not be athletes but are interested in communications, journalism, marketing, media, or public relations within the sports industry, this is a must-apply scholarship. Every year, the foundation presents four $1,000 scholarships to give confidence and support women in the field which they are underrepresented.

5)     "Alabama Horse Council" 

Meanwhile, organizations or clubs in your area might be offering scholarships as well. Like the Alabama Horse Council, it offers two $1,000 scholarships to students who are members or are the children of members plan to enter a field of study in the equine industry and have an established interest in the equine field.
