Syracuse University has hailed Daniel French as interim athletic director. This follows after Mark Coyle left for the University of Minnesota to be the Gophers athletic director. However, the search for a permanent replacement for Coyle still continues.

Daniel French as Syracuse University Interim Athletic Director

Daniel French was previously Syracuse University's general counsel before being hailed as interim athletic director. According to French this week, Syracuse University is still continuing their hunt to find a permanent AD to replace Mark Coyle, Syracuse.com reported. In line with this, Chancellor Kent Syverud also announced that Herm Frazier has been promoted to senior deputy athletic director.

French graduated at the Syracuse College of Law in 1995. He worked as the Syracuse University's general counsel in 2014 and he is responsible for legal documents, counsel and advice including the university's athletic compliance. French was also involved in the project that oversaw the replacement of the Carrier Dome's roof with permanent roofing in the west-campus.

French & Frazier Support Syracuse University's Plan to Find New Athletics Director

In a news conference, French said that he and Frazier are supportive of Syracuse University's seach for a new permanent athletic director, CNY Central shared. Frazier also took to the podium after being promoted and said that there is nothing to worry for Syracuse Athletics because the university has the financial means, facilities and staff to support its endeavors. It is unknown how long Syracuse University will be searching for a permanent athletic director.

The appointment of French and promotion of Frazier comes weeks after Mark Coyle made his intention clear to leave Syracuse University to become University of Minnesota's athletic director, CNYBJ.com noted. French and Frazier will temporarily become the athletics department's managers as the search for the permanent athletic department continues.
