The University of Kansas dismissed one football player and suspended another following their arrests for robbing a fellow student.

According to The Lawrence Journal-World, KU Public Safety records indicated Eric Rivers and Kendall Duckworth were accused of robbing another KU student early Saturday morning outside the Jayhawk Towers apartment building.

KU head football coach David Beaty told The Journal World on Monday that he dismissed Rivers, a redshirt sophomore, from the team, and suspended Duckworth, a sophomore linebacker. While Rivers redshirted and did not play last season, Duckworth played in seven games and recorded three tackles.

"I am aware of the situation and am in the process of gathering all of the facts. Eric Rivers has been dismissed from the program for a violation of team rules," Beaty said. "For the time being, Kendall Duckworth has been suspended from all team activities."

KU Public Safety Capt. James Anguiano stated there was an additional complaint against Rivers reported Sunday. A female student accused him of touching her "inappropriately," trying to take her clothes off against her will, and keeping her from leaving the room. The investigation into that complaint is still open.

Both Rivers and Duckworth were released from the Douglas County Jail Monday afternoon, The Kansas City Star reported. Records from KU's Public Safety Office indicated the two football players "forcibly took [$40] from the victim."
