Travis Huffman, who served as an assistant to former basketball coach in the last four seasons, has been promoted as the new skipper for Mountain Lions. Rick Robinson quit the program to serve as the head coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Director of Athletics Randy Dunn feels that Coach Huffman is the right person to lead the baseball program to the next level. "The baseball student-athletes truly trust and respect him and coupled with his experience, passion and work ethic our committee thought he was best candidate for the position," Dunn in a statement.

As an assistant with the Mountain Lions, Huffman spent quality time with infielders and outfielders. He was responsible for implementation of weight programs for all position players, pre-game scouting reports on opponents and summer league player placement.

Under his leadership, Young Harris won 114 games in the last four seasons and transitioned into a member of NCAA Division II and the prestigious Peach Belt Conference. Four players from the Mountain Lions were named to All-Peach Belt team, five to the PBC All-Academic team, three all-region, two Capital One Academic All-America® NCAA Division II Baseball selections and one All-American.

"It is an exciting time at Young Harris College after becoming active members of NCAA Division II and able to compete for conference and national championships," Huffman said. "Young Harris baseball has had a rich tradition of winning in years past as a junior college and I look forward to establishing the program at the Division II level while competing in one of the best baseball conferences in the nation."
