Denise Roessler has been named the new women's lacrosse head coach at Bryn Athyn College.

A native of Mt. Laurel, N.J., Roessler joins the Lions community after finishing her 16th season as head coach of the Saint Joseph's University women's lacrosse team.

"We were not only impressed with her Division I coaching experience, we felt her passion to play a role in the formation of young adults was central to our mission," Director of Athletics Matthew Kennedy said in a statement.

Roessler said that the values, vision, staff and campus at Bryn Athyn compelled her to accept the offer.

"I am excited to develop each player and set our goals to be a top contender in the NEAC conference," Roessler said.

At Saint Joseph's, she led the women's lacrosse team to two Atlantic 10 Tournament appearances and received the A-10 Coach of the Year award in 2009. Plus, the women's team was conferred with fifth consecutive Public Recognition Award from the NCAA for its Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in 2014.

Under Roessler's leadership, student-athletes have earned A-10 All-Conference honors 31 times and All-Academic recognition on 25 occasions.

Prior to Saint Joseph's, Roessler served as the head women's lacrosse coach at La Salle University. She guided Explorers to a 5-9 overall record in their debut season of varsity competition in 1998.

Besides collegiate experience, Roessler also served as the head junior varsity and assistant varsity field hockey coach at Bishop Eustace Prep where she led Bishop Eustace to an undefeated 10-0-2 record. She also had a stint at her alma mater, Camden Catholic, as a volunteer assistant lacrosse coach.

Roessler holds a bachelor's of science degree in sports medicine from Old Dominion. She was a First Team All-Conference and All-Parochial selection in lacrosse as a senior at Camden Catholic.
