Who amongst us has never had a fever, nobody right?

Fever is one of the most common sicknesses that we experience. It is a short term increase in your body temperature usually due to an illness such as cough and colds. Sometimes it can also be a sign that something is going on in your body that requires medical attention.

A fever usually lasts for 3 to 5 days. And unless it is something really serious, you might want to wait it out and find relief in a few days. Our body can heal on its own. So if you are sure that your fever is not serious you might want to check these natural practices to reduce fever at home.

 Keep it cool

The old belief of soaking a wet sheet in cold water and having it to wrap your body is still applicable, today. For a fact, doctors are against lowering your body temperature at a fast-paced, so this natural remedy can be followed by using slightly cool water. Use a large beach towel or blanket over a wet sheet. Then, lie down on it in about 15 minutes. Unwrap your body upon getting a warm sheet.

Drink juices

During suffering from a fever, your body is likely to feel and get dehydrated. In this lieu, be sure to consume 8 to 12 glasses of water every day. Drinking a sports drink (like Gatorade) can also be useful. It caters to dehydration and supplies the lost minerals, too. Furthermore, orange juice and other types of fruit juices are also advisable to drink. They are rich in vitamin C, which helps your immune system in getting rid of the infection. Additionally, eating cold grapes endows hydration and a soothing sensation. When the fever has also a sore throat, there are simple sore throat remedies available.

 Stay cool

Wear light clothing when suffering from fever. Be sure to also keep the room temperature at a lower level and take a sleep using one sheet or a light blanket.

Take over-the-counter medications

During suffering from high fever, a doctor may advise on taking an over-the-counter medication, like acetaminophen. These are medications used to lower body temperature. When having a fever of 38.3°C (101°F) or below, just relax and let it run its course. The environment can level up your temperature for a purpose. On the other hand, when you still feel uncomfortable and seek for immediate action, try the above-mentioned tips to cure a hot temperature and use these home remedies for treating fever. Remember to notify your work that you cannot be present today. Having a fever is part of the top signs you are asked to call in sick to work.

When you already feel well, it is better to start incorporating healthy meals full of vegetables and fruits which are good for boosting your immune system. If you find that preparing these meals is of so much hassle, you also have a choice of drinking supplement and natural juices that can provide essential nutrients and vitamins to your body. Take care of your body for the first 50 years and let it take care of you for the next five decades.
