Iris Mittenaere from France and her journey towards the Miss Universe crown has never been easy. With a country wrought by tragedies because of terrorism, France's win in one of the most prominent and the most prestigious pageant in the planet says a lot about the people of her country who are ready to stand back on its feet and face the new challenges of the world.

Miss Mittenaere said she wants to represent her country and make it proud, and it is high-time to do so because France, once the most sought out vacation spot in the world, became one of the most dangerous places to travel because of a series of terrorism attacks that claimed 246 lives over the course of 18 months. Nevertheless, Miss France told the judges that her nation wants to have the most of globalization as much as possible. She said their people want to have the biggest exchange of people, USA Today reported.

In the question and answer portion for the top six, Miss France was asked, "Name something over the course that you failed at and tell us what you learned", and gracefully replied, "I failed several times in my life... When you fail you have to be elevated and you have to keep going. If tonight I will not be the winner I am still honored that I'm still one of the three finalists. For me this is a great opportunity," Inquirer reported.

There were 86 contestants who competed for the crown but the judges have spoken. Miss France reigned supreme and rightfully so because she's the perfect embodiment of everything that Miss Universe represents, ABS-CBN News reported. With that award-winning gown that took almost five months to make, Miss France truly is pure elegance from a country marred by violence and fear. 

Implications of Miss France Victory  

Because Miss France comes from a nation salvaged from the heels of tragedy, what with the onslaught of terrorist attacks that took the lives of 234 people and shook her entire nation from the ground up, this win is a slice of the bright promise that the future holds. This is the first time that her country will be receiving this good news on an international scale after all that it's been through.

President Francois Hollande is yet to issue his congratulations for his country's new Miss Universe. It was in 1953 when France last took home the crown. This year marks a new wave of change for the great nation, thanks to the new Miss Universe Iris Mittenaere.
