Mangold said that the title, “Logan,” suggests that it will move away from the typical feel of the Wolverine and X-Men franchise. Meanwhile, the presence of 11-year-old Laura, played by Dafne Keen, will be important in bringing out a different kind of Wolverine to the audiences.

According to Mangold, the new “Logan” movie will veer away from the cliché and bloated end-of-the world threats that usual superhero movies are. This could mean that the movie might not take place in the same universe as the X-Men franchise, which is made obvious by the comic book scene in the trailer. Laura is the alter ego of X-23, which in the comics is Logan’s clone daughter. She will bring out a more human and paternal Wolverine, Slash Film reported. Besides protecting Professor X, Logan will be facing something more intense in the film, and that’s standing up as a father to Laura. If this formula works, it will create a precedence of bolder superhero movies that don’t only cater to children by playing it safe.
