‘Mr. Robot’ Season 3 Spoilers: Joanna Wellick Is A Master Manipulator, Rises To Power [VIDEO]

By

Stephanie Corneliussen's Joanna Wellick went from sexy, but cunning wife to Martin Wallström's Tyrell Wellick to a crucial player in "Mr. Robot" Season 2. The actress reveals that her character is only going to get bigger and badder in "Mr. Robot" Season 3.

Joanna has always posed as a calculating and power-hunger woman, but her capabilities became more well-known in the second season. Before Tyrell fled after being listed as one of the culprits to the 5/9 hacks, he was charged of killing Scott Knowles' wife, Sharon. To clear Tyrell of the chargers, Joanna went into action by seducing the DJ from that night in order to get him to testify against Knowles and pin him as the one who killed Sharon on the rooftop.

It is clear that Joanna is a master manipulator and she executes her plans ever so flawlessly that it's almost mind-blowing. With Tyrell still attached as one of the suspects to the 5/9 hacks, there's no telling what Joanna is going to do in order to free her husband.

In an interview with Variety, creator Sam Esmail described Joanna as someone who "can be the sweetest and then she can be the harshest." This perhaps hints that Joanna is going to do whatever it takes to find Tyrell and free him from all the charges. It is also said that she's going to be the main antagonist to Rami Malek's character, Elliot Alderson.

Meanwhile, the fast-paced developments in Joanna's character brought Corneliussen in tears when she read the script. According to Ars Technica, the 29-year-old Danish actress revealed that she could not see Joanna fall in love with some other guy. She narrated that she was "physically upset" and had "tears in [her] eyes" upon reading the script. She was comforted by Esmail, who then explained to her that there was a bigger plan for her character. "I was happy that everyone eventually knew he was just a pawn in her game," Corneliussen said about her temporary lover.

As to what fans can expect in "Mr. Robot" Season 3, Corneliussen hopes to see a reunion between Joanna and Tyrell. She added that she knows her character has missed Tyrell "quite a bit." She also teased that there's so many things that the writers can do to her character, one of them might be to watch her rise to power.

"Mr. Robot" Season 3 is expected to air in 2017 on USA Network.
