Two Oklahoma teens have been charged with first-degree murder in the killing of East Central University student Christopher Lane, CBS News reported.

Michael Jones, 17, gave police a detailed confession of the drive-by shooting in Duncan, Okla. carried out by himself, Chancey Luna, 16, and James Edwards, 15.

"They saw Christopher go by, and one of them said: 'There's our target,'" Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford said. "The boy who has talked to us said: 'We were bored and didn't have anything to do, so we decided to kill somebody.'"

Luna and Edwards were each charged with first-degree murder while Jones, who allegedly drove the car, was charged with accessory to first-degree murder. Under Oklahoma state law, they will be tried as adults. It is not clear who pulled the trigger, but Jones said Tuesday in open court that he did, before a judge told him to keep quiet.

"I'm appalled," Prosecutor Jason Hicks said after the hearing. "This is not supposed to happen in this community."

Hicks said in court it was Luna who pulled the trigger of a .22 caliber revolver on Lane from the back seat of the car. Hicks said Jones drove and Edwards sat in the passenger seat.

Luna and Edwards were held without bond, while Jones' was set at $1 million.

According to ABC News, there were no witnesses to the crime, but police were able to find the car on local buildings' surveillance cameras. Ford said the car pulled in behind a hotel 11 minutes after the shooting before taking off. A woman called 911 after seeing Lane stagger across the road and collapse on the ground.

Lane, 22, of Melbourne Australia, was attending East Central on a baseball scholarship and was staying with his girlfriend and her family at the time. Peter Lane, his father, said from Australia his son was taking a jog like he would almost any morning as part of his training regimen, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

"He was an athlete going for a jog like he would do five or six days a week in terms of his training schedule," Lane said. "It's happened, it's wrong and we just try and deal with it the best we can."
