iPad Mini 5 Release Date Rumors: New Tablet To Come With An 8MP Camera, A10 Processor But With A Different Moniker?
Apple did not divulge any sort of information regarding the the iPad Mini 5 during the recently concluded iPhone 7 launch event, but this hasn't stopped rumor mills from churning speculations around the much anticipated device. Let's look at some of these rumors.
iPad Mini 5 Release Date
Rumors are running rampant that the iPad Mini 5 will hit the store shelves in the first quarter of 2017, specifically, in March. Tech pundits claim that Apple will launch a slew of new devices along with the iPad Mini 5. These include the iPad Pro Mini and the iPad Pro 2. Some rumors, on the other hand, indicate that the iPad Mini 5 will not be released at all, but will make an appearance bearing a different moniker.
There's hearsay that the reason for the delay of the iPad Mini 5's highly anticipated launch is that Apple is still waiting for the availability of the A10 processor. Apple devices currently use the A9 processors, but it looks like the company is all set for an upgrade.
iPad Mini 5 Camera
As far as iPad Mini 5's camera is concerned, latest reports hint that it will come with an 8MP primary camera and a 12MP front snapper.
3D Touch Pressure-Sensitive Display
This new feature will come to fruition if the iPad Mini 5 uses A10 processors.
3D Touch is already available for the recently launched iPhone 7. The said feature changes the way we interact with our touch screens. It recognizes different pressures and offer a slew of selections for each, HowToGeek reported.
Just like the iPhone 7, the iPad Mini 5 is likely to oust the headphone jack, which will pave the way for a more stream-lined design with extra space inside the device. That makes the iPad Mini even slimmer and lighter that it's current model.
But that's not all! Aside from getting rid of the headphone jack, the iPad Mini 5 is also likely to replace the home button with a touch sensitive key. The tablet is expected to pack a robust 5124 mAh battery. Another rumor indicates that the iPad Mini 5 will have a less powerful battery as it will be counting on the A10 processor for its efficiency.
Moreover, using a reduced battery would also reduce the overall size of the device. The iPad Mini 5 might also boast a quick charge technology akin to Qualcomm's, MacWorld reported.
In terms of size, the iPad Mini 5 is expected to be larger than its precursors with a 9.7-inch screen diagonal. It will come with a Retina display, 3GB of RAM, and will include the Apple Pencil.
The device will come in three variants i.e. 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.
iPad Mini 5 Price
The new iPad Min will be up for grabs for a starting price of $450. The 16GB version of the device will be priced at $399.
