Instagram has taken online harassment more seriously, as the social network is making an unusual step to deal with unethical comments.

Instagram let users make the choice about what's acceptable or not for themselves. The social network will soon allow users to strain their own comment streams and the users can completely turn off comments on their own posts.

While Instagram has general policies for the acceptable speech on its network as well as the words or phrases which are offensive to different individuals. So, this new feature of Instagram is designed to let users to control the mood of their accounts and remove unwanted comments which are personally offensive to the account owners, according to The Washington Post.

Nicky Jackson Colaco, Instagram's head of public policy, stated that their goal is to make Instagram a friendly, fun and safe place for self expression. Colaco also said that they have slowly begun to come up with accounts with high volume comment threads and the option to moderate their comment experience. And as they learn, they look forward to improving the comment experience for their broader community.

The new feature of Instagram is already being tested on high-profile celebrity accounts, which conceivably gather a large number of comments from other users. And in the next few weeks, the feature will roll out to the masses.

However, trolls and haters will probably find a way around the block in the same way they have since the chatrooms of the global mass media corporation AOL got parental filters, Engadget reported.

The approach of the social media network to help account owners deal with online bullying is noticeably different than how other social networks deal with the problem, based on the report of Mashable.

Anyway, Instagram did not clear it out whether Instagram will let users block comments only on a per-post basis, or the users will just turn them off entirely.
