Notre Dame vs Stanford 2015 Live Radio Broadcast: Both Teams In Need of Statement Win

By

The Stanford Cardinal (9) may have a spot in their conference championship locked up, but the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6) have one final game ahead of the College Football Playoff (CFP).

Stanford's losses this season might give them an outside chance at the CFP, if one at all, but both losses can be considered "good." They also have two more high profile games and the fact that CFP committee is more likely to reward a team with momentum than a team with a slightly better record.

Notre Dame does not have a conference championship and is coming off a less-than-inspiring win over Boston College. But unlike Stanford, Notre Dame only has one loss and it is a "good loss" to Clemson before they rocketed to the top of every national poll.

Playing for their postseason, Notre Dame will have to stop Christian McCaffrey, Stanford's starting running back who is second in the nation in rushing behind only Leonard Fournette.

"Oh, yeah, we're very much aware of McCaffrey and his ability to impact the game," Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said in his weekly press conference. "And the special teams, coming out of the back field, obviously a very gifted runner. He is one of the elite players in college football, there's no question about it."
