As the release of "Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time" draws near, another feature of the game has been detailed. The latest issue of Weekly Jump has the exclusive details of the game's new smithing system.

New "Mysterious Smithing" Improves Equipment And More

The new "Mysterious Smithing" system of "Dragon Quest XI" allows the players to make and improve equipment for use. These items that can be created and strengthened are weapons, armor, and various other forms of equipment, Gematsu reported.

"Mysterious Smithing" Process Steps Detailed

For doing the "Mysterious Smithing" process, players must first prepare by obtaining a recipe, which can be found on bookshelves and other locations around the game's world. The next step is to prepare the necessary materials, which can also be found in different locations in the world like the fields. After the preparations, players can now start the process by striking away at the ores to fill up the gauges on screen and aiming for the success zone.

Players can also gain special skills that will give them an advantage in smithing. They can also obtain some items called the Restrike Gems, which can strengthen the equipment that they are already using or have in their stock.

"Dragon Quest XI's" Monster Riding System Explained

Square Enix also revealed recently a new gameplay mechanic for the video game, which is the monster riding system. This allows the players to ride certain monsters after defeating them in fights, unlike other game titles in the game franchise. This also allows them to use the monsters' abilities to reach inaccessible areas around the game's world, Gamespot reported.

This new feature also allows players to cross a specific type of terrain in the world. One of those monsters that can be ridden is the giant bee, which allows them to go over lakes, while the Skull Rider can scale cliffs and dungeon walls.
