Tetsuya Nomura, "Final Fantasy VII Remake" game director, unveiled two screenshot images of the game at this year's Monaco Anime Game International Conference 2017 (MAGIC 2017).

Along with revealing two screenshots of "Final Fantasy VII Remake," Nomura also unveiled one screenshot image of Kingdom Hearts III. The images of "Final Fantasy VII Remake" gave a small glimpse of where the game's progress is shaping up.

One image showed detailing a boss battle with the Guard Scorpion. According to PlayStation Universe, the image is very different from the original "Final Fantasy VII." The image reportedly displayed more colorful particle effects than that of its 1997 incarnation, and the second image is typical.

Aside from the two screenshots of "Final Fantasy VII Remake, Nomura had nothing more to offer. He reportedly planned to show an entire video of the boss Guard Scorpion during the event, like what he did with "Final Fantasy XIII," but was apparently vetoed by his colleagues, Kotaku reported.

"Final Fantasy VII Remake" remains a hot topic among fans for almost nothing has been known about the game's progress during its remake process. According to some, Square Enix's decision to remake a 20-year old game is quite a risky move. Notably, the entire "Final Fantasy" franchise is also marking its 30th anniversary.

It is with concern that fans have not seen nor heard much in terms of its development. Accordingly, the original announcement of "Final Fantasy VII Remake" is going into its second year, yet news is so hard to come by.

While some view the screenshots positively, others say that the added lighting effects detract from the games original aesthetics. One feared the final product could become as chaotic as "Final Fantasy XV."

From his statement last month, Nomura said that both "Kingdom Hearts III" and "Final Fantasy VII Remake" still have a long way to go before either is ready for release.
