Sony has recently revealed their strategy to grow the PlayStation 4 ecosystem in the current fiscal year. They also revealed the number of subscribers of their PlayStation Plus subscription service.

PS4 Ecosystem Last Year Highly Successful

Sony Interactive Entertainment Deputy President Tsuyoshi Kodera reviewed the performance in fiscal year 2016. He mentioned that the growth and development of the PS4 ecosystem was highly successful during that time. He also included the continued innovation with the help of the launch of the PlayStation 4 Pro and the launch of PlayStation VR, Dual Shockers reported.

For the current fiscal year, Kodera revealed their intention to retain and expand the PlayStation engagement. They also want to increase the business opportunities and revenue for their company.

PS4 Key Strategy Revealed

The deputy president revealed that the plan will involve in maximizing the profit from the PS4 ecosystem during its previous harvest period. This will further expand the PS VR as a game and entertainment medium. They also want to make a new content ecosystem for the platform, and also develop a new audience through mobile releases in Japan and Asia.

PlayStation Plus Gets A Lot Of Paying Subscribers

In the presentation, Kodera revealed that the PlayStation Plus subscription service has already 26.4 million paying subscribers at the end of fiscal year 2016. This has factored in with the numerous PSN users they have right now.

PlayStation VR Platform Strategy

For the PS VR, the game company plans to expand its market, and they expect to enhance the game lineup and its PS4 Pro compatibility. They also want to add non-VR content like movies and music to this platform.

PlayStation Network Monthly Active Users Reach 70 Million

Sony also revealed in their presentation slides for the recent Corporate Strategy Meeting that currently, PlayStation Network has 70 million monthly active users. If compared to Xbox Live, it currently has 52 to 55 million monthly active users in the last two quarters, Dual Shockers reported in another post.
