The school was founded in 2015 by Aaron Rasmussen and David Rogier who were inspired by an idea of having intimate classes for a very small group of people. They raised funds to finance their online school. Rogier knew Dustin Hoffman's daughter and through that connection, Dustin Hoffman agreed for a filming of a course in acting. This was followed by James Patterson's writing course.

All classes are done via video and even though teaching is not a face-to-face affair, still, students could learn the skill taught through demonstration. Each course costs $90 but for the chance of learning from a real expert, it is a good price, Mashable reported.

Writers who aspire to write bestsellers can enroll in a course in writing taught by bestselling author James Patterson. His MasterClass online writing lessons last for three hours for $90. All other courses cost the same.
