Psyonix Explains Plans For Server Issues In ‘Rocket League’ [VIDEO]

By

Psyonix CEO Dave Hagewood reveals their plans for the server issues in "Rocket League." The game company is also thinking of releasing it to other platforms like the Nintendo Switch.

Video game not immune to issues

Hagewood admitted in his post on the official website of Steam that there have been problems with their servers, which is why they are now making plans to amend for those issues. He wanted the fans and casual gamers to know that he and his team have heard of the criticism about their servers, and they are actively looking to fix them.

Issues in the servers

The development team revealed that the specific issues that the servers are facing right now are server slowdown and crashes. There are also individual problems with both the PsyNet database, which is "Rocket League's" dedicated online service, and some issues with dedicated servers.

Plans for fix

Hagewood revealed what their company is planning in order to combat the issues of their servers. One of the tasks that they did was assigning a dedicated staff from their Online Services team to database stability and reliability.

The staff members are now hard at work on making changes like separating the high-traffic features like Player Trading, and Scraper API access used by third party sites from their core services. This will reduce the load on the PsyNet database and will reduce the exposure to outages during the peak hours.

The game company is also working closely together with the Google engineers to investigate the disturbances to their database performance from outside their cloud instance. A profiling done on their own was also conducted with the collaboration of their server providers to investigate the issue to make the best resolution as soon as possible.

Thinking of going to Switch
