Disgraced and former football hero O.J. Simpson is seeking clemency from President Barack Obama while undergoing medical tests for brain cancer, the National Enquirer reported.

Simpson, 66, who is serving a 33-year sentence for assault, robbery and kidnapping in a Nevada prison, has reportedly asked the president for a pardon and early release because he is convinced he does not have long to live. He is asking Obama to allow him to "die in peace at home."

Simpson said he suffers from symptoms consistent with brain cancer, including memory loss and painful headaches, The Enquirer reported citing "a close source" to Simpson.

"He has blurry vision, stutters sometimes and has trouble hearing what people are saying to him. At times, he feels confused and has unusual bursts of anger and fits of depression. He put off the doctors for weeks after he first started experiencing the symptoms because he was afraid of what they would find," the source told The Enquirer. "Now the prison docs are telling him they believe he has a brain tumor. They plan to run a series of tests on him, MRIs and CT scans."

A brain tumor would be just another notch on the football legend's health woes. His health has been deteriorating for years.  

The Enquirer reported months ago that Simpson is a severe diabetic with high blood pressure. At one point the prison doctors allegedly gave the former football legend just three months unless he lost weight and exercised regularly.

"O.J. got really scared over what the doctors told him and began to follow a strict diet and exercise plan, which was a real struggle for him," the source told The Enquirer. "But then he began suffering dizzy spells, nausea, lapses in memory and headaches - and the frightening symptoms continue to get worse."

Simpson is serving time at the Lovelock Correctional Center after he was found guilty of kidnapping, assault, robbery and using a deadly weapon in 2008. He will not be eligible for parole for another four years, according to The Enquirer.

In 1995, Simpson was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman.
