Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon CPU, dubbed as the Snapdragon 835, could be the mobile processor to beat in Q1 2017. The upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset is slated to power the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8.

Although Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset is yet to be unleashed in a smartphone, the American multinational semiconductor firm has already shaped up the mobile processor for better performance. According to I4U News, a rep of Samsung appears to be very confident about the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset.

Nonetheless, some leaked benchmarking results of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset hinted at the chipset's speed. Previously, the cross-platform processor benchmark, Geekbench, revealed some of Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset benchmarking results. During the test, the mobile processor was labeled as MSM8998. Now, a new benchmark result of the chipset has mounted up on the internet and it showed a slightly improved score using a reference device that runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1.

Nevertheless, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset appears to be an Octa-core processor with a processor clock speed of 1.90 GHz. During the single-core performance test, the chipset scored 2004 points. While on the multi-core performance test, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset achieved 6233 points. Wherein, the reference device in the test was using a 4GB of RAM

In spite of that, aside from the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, another device that is expected to be powered by the mobile processor is Xiaomi's upcoming Android smartphone, Xiaomi Mix Evo, Ray Arena reported.

That being said, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset's development is still underway, the scores from the benchmark test are expected to increase over time. Based on the trend, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 may be capable of breaking performance records soon.
