The Japanese anime series focuses on a young girl named Usagi Tsukino, who has transformed into the titular character searching for a magical artifact called the Legendary Silver Crystal. Usagi has led a diverse group of comrades namely the Sailor Soldiers to battle and prevent the theft of the Silver Crystal and the destruction of the Solar System.

New Anime Announcement

According to Crunchyroll, the Sailor Moon's official website on Wednesday revealed that a sequel is in the works for "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal" anime. Additional information will be announced later.

In addition to the new anime announcement, the "Sailor Moon" official website has also announced that the original 1990s "Sailor Moon" anime series will receive its first Blu-ray Disc release in Japan. The first of the two 23-episode volumes of the 1990s "Sailor Moon" series' Blu-ray Collection will go on sale on June 14 before the second half retails on Aug. 9.

Fans are reportedly hoping that western countries and the rest of the world will get the same Japanese Blu-ray treatment.

Still No Words On The Sequel and Release Date

Unfortunately for the "Sailor Moon" fans, the series producer has not given much information about the sequel and has not given even a hint on its release date, according to Comic Book. This means that fans will need to wait for official confirmation.

The "Sailor Moon" series has made a global hit, selling over 35 million copies worldwide. It became one of the highest selling manga series ever produced.
