Pokémon Company International recently announced that it is bringing the Pokémon animated content in Disney XD in the United States. A new Pokémon movie will debut in Disney XD in December, while the Pokémon series is set to be aired by early 2017.

Pokémon is one of the leading entertainment property originally intended for children, but even adults have become Pokémon fans. The Japanese animation continues to have a long and successful run ever since it was launched in 1996.

The new multiyear deal with Disney XD and Pokémon Company International will allow the popular content to have a wider reach, given Disney's multiple platforms as reported in Anime News Network. Disney XD will also have an extensive Pokémon material in their hands that they can use to meet their goal of variety and quality shows for its subscribers.

Disney XD will acquire from Pokémon Company International the Pokémon animated series and the Pokémon animation library. This means that the network will have Pokémon's previous 19 seasons of more than 900 episodes and 15 movies.

For the twentieth season, Disney XD in the US, will air "Pokémon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel." The movie is about the adventures of Volcanion and Ash, who must work together to help Magearna from a nemesis with myserious powers. The movie will air on Disney XD on Monday, Dec. 5.

Disney XD will also be bringing "Pokémon the series: Sun and Moon," which will feature new characters along with the old established ones. The series will delve more into the Pokémon universe with its unique narrative, which sets the Japanese animation apart from its counterparts as reported in Fansided.

This will not be the first deal that Pokémon Company International has set with Disney. Pokémon animation content is now being aired in Disney XD in Europe. Through this newest deal, Disney XD is capitalizing on the huge draw of the Pokémon franchise, while the Japanese company also gains extensive viewership across the United States.
