‘Gotham’ Episode 3.09 Hints New Batman Villain; Theories Online Suggests 'The Judge'

By

"Gotham" episode 3.09 titled "The Executioner" may introduce a new Batman villain, hinting that Police Captain Nathaniel Barnes could be "The Judge."

To recap, Barnes may no longer be in his right mind, after being infected by a drop of bad blood from Alice Tetch. Now the police captain has become murderous, and this could be one of the clues for the theory that he might be "The Judge," Cinema Blend reported. He even reluctantly arrested the sinister plastic surgeon Symon almost killing him if it wasn't for the witnesses.

Another hint for this theory is how Barnes, in the last episode, declared himself as the "judge, jury, and executioner," Observer reported. Those words were blurted out to Symon during one of Carmine Falcone's party. He then threw the surgeon out the building with his newly acquired super strength.

Barnes is played by actor Michael Chiklis, who said that he was told beforehand about the plot twist that may happen involving his character prior to accepting the role. He said in a report that he knew about the kind of man that his character will become and he likes it because it means Barnes won't be a flat character.

There are major reasons why fans are so intrigued by this theory because "The Judge" was only featured in the "Batman" Animated Series. Also, this villain is another alter-ego of "Two Face," who is also the alter-ego of Harvey Dent. This is a very curious thing because if the theory is true, then it means that "Gotham" is putting that personality in a different character, Barnes.

The animated series "The New Batman Adventures" has an episode where "guilty, guilty, guilty" was chorused in the background while "The Judge" was handing down sentences. Though, "Gotham" has a whole different take, the niche is still relatively the same. One  can only stay tuned this November 14 for "Gotham" episode 3.09.
