‘Dishonored 2’ New Trailer Spotlights Emily Kaldwin, Creative Director Says Protagonist Reclaim What's Rightfully Hers [VIDEO]

A new trailer of "Dishonored 2" shines a line on one of the protagonists, Empress Emily Kaldwin. Part of what drives the character, as creative director Harvey Smith explains, is a simple desire to win back what's rightfully hers.

The latest "Dishonored 2" trailer highlights Kaldwin, glance at her powers, and more interestingly, the character's motivations for using them. But as Kaldwin comes to understand the corrupting influences of bad leadership, the quest becomes less about the character, and more about an urge to do right by Kaldwin's people.

Creative director Smith states that one of the underlying themes of the upcoming stealth action-adventure video game is that Emily, as Empress, is used to depending on a lot of other individuals to take possession of what she needs. While Emily is in this situation, the character really only got herself to depend on. Then on top of that, because she is a former Empress, people react very differently when they see her, compared they do to Corvo, according to PC Gamer.

Smith further explains that the unique powers of Kaldwin also reflect her unique status in the game world of "Dishonored 2." If people will look at her powers, most of them are befitting of an Empress. Emily can connect people together so they share the same fate, and the "Dishonored 2" protagonist can mesmerize a crowd of people.

Furthermore, the video also showcased the abilities of Emily, such as Far Reach and Domino. The Far Reach ability is a bit similar to Corvo's ability, Blink, but Kaldwin's ability is more flexible and can be utilized to grab enemies from afar. While the Domino ability, on the other hand, is a devastating one, wherein Emily kills a target while using the ability, Game Spot reported.

"Dishonored 2" will fire up on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Nov. 11.
