MacBook Air vs Acer Swift 7: Acer Steal the Crown for Legendary Hardware Design; Apple Will Kill MacBook Air Soon?

By

Acer Swift 7 was introduced by Acer Inc. to the public during the press event at IFA in Germany. Dubbed as the world's thinnest laptop, Swift 7 whoops past ahead of Apple's MacBook Pro when it comes to design and convenience. Could it be true that Acer Swift 7 steal the crown for having the most legendary hardware design that once belong to the MacBook Pro of Cupertino-based tech giant Apple?

Without sacrificing much of the hardware component, Acer Swift 7 claimed the title as the world's thinnest laptop that out-thinned the MacBook Air with the size of less than 10 millimeters. The Digital Trends made a spec comparison of the two laptops featuring the software and hardware. Acer Swift 7 whoops past ahead of MacBook Air when it comes to thinness, weight and screen resolution having 9.98 mm, 2.4 pounds and 1,920 x 1,080 pixels respectively.

However, when it comes to the processor, graphics, ports and display Apple is one step further than Acer with Intel Core i5 1.6 GHz for the chipset, 13.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit widescreen display, two ports of USB 3, Thunderbolt 2 and headphone jack and Intel HD Graphics 6000 respectively. For the memory, storage and keyboard both have the same specs such as 8GB of RAM, 256GB and full size keyboard. Swift 7 can be purchased for not less than $1000 a little bit pricey compare to MacBook Air with the price of $999.

Forbes reported that the launching of Swift 7 was untimely for Apple because of the largely flat retail of MacBook Pro sales thus, resulted to lower income. Also, even the Apple event which will be held on September 7 is unlikely to boosts the tech giant's income mainly because of the unfriendly price they offer for the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. For this reason, there was a speculation that MacBook Air would be killed off in favor of iPad Pro.
