"Criminal Minds" Season 12 will see the possibly permanent exit of Thomas Gibson who plays the character of BAU Special Agent Aaron Hotchner. The management's decision was made after a two-episode suspension that Gibson faced since he had an on-set argument where he kicked a producer, reportedly.

In a statement, ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios announced that Gibson has been dismissed from "Criminal Minds" Season 12. They added that the creative details on how his character will exit the show shall be addressed at a later date. The 54-year-old actor's firing has been immediate as there was totally no chance for him to film another scene to send his character off.

It would not be easy to make changes to "Criminal Minds" Season 12 story given that Hotchner has been part of the series for 12 years. In order for Hotchner to exit the show, it is suggested that he will leave on a special assignment in the third episode of "Criminal Minds" Season 12, TV Line reported.

Gibson's exit might be permanent if "Criminal Minds" Season 12 management decides not to recast the role of Hotchner. Erica Messer stated that Hotchner will be sent away by the Director for an assignment that would supposedly turn to something big. During his absence, agent Emily Prentiss is suggested to take charge in "Criminal Minds" Season 12.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 actor expressed how he regrets that a disagreement on the set has occurred, Deadline reported. Gibson stated his hopes to see the end of "Criminal Minds" but according to him, it seems impossible for now. He mentioned how he loves the show and how he had put his heart and soul to it for the last 12 years.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 actor also expressed his gratitude to the writers, producers, actors, crew, and most importantly, to the fans. Watch "Criminal Minds" Season 12 Episode 1 here.
