A nonprofit group is offering a cash prize to young people in a last-minute effort to get them to sign up for Obamacare before the March 31 deadline, Campus Reform reported. 

Young Invincibles, an organization based in Washington, DC, launched the Healthy Young America App Sweepstakes, which offers youth a $1,200 cash prize for downloading and using their healthcare signup app or sending an entry card in the mail, Campus Reform reported.  The sweepstakes will run through the fall.

The mobile app allows young people to sign up for health insurance using their phones, according to the group's website. The features of the app are included to help youth understand the recent changes in health care.

Jen Mishory, deputy director of Young Invincibles, told Marketwatch she believes the initiative will boost enrollment before the deadline.

"This last month is going to be a huge push for educating young adults," Mishory said.

Last week, after the release of February Enrollment numbers by the Department of Health and Human Services, Young Invincibles Executive Director Aaron Smith released a statement stressing the importance of getting more people to sign up before the end of the month, Campus Reform reported.

"It's go time," he said. "We are doing everything we can to get the word out about the law's financial assistance and the March 31st deadline to get covered."

Young people reportedly are not signing up for Obamacare in the numbers the Obama's administration deemed necessary for the program's viability.

The White House originally said that at least 40 percent of Obamacare enrollees need to be young, healthy people to offset the cost of covering older and sicker Americans; so far, only 25 percent of enrollees are young, healthy people.

Campus Reform reported that the White House has no record of how many of those who signed up for Obamacare actually paid their premiums.
