After Victory University in Tennessee announced last week that it would shut down at the end of the spring semester because of financial difficulties, two nearby colleges are hosting special meetings for Victory students considering transfers, The Commercial Appeal reported.

LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn., are holding information sessions on their campuses this week and next for students hoping to transfer into their school.

"We should be really trying to find the best fit for the student. If that's LeMoyne, great, but if we can help them answer questions about general processes that would lead them to another institution, that would be fine as well," Cheryl Golden, LeMoyne-Owen's vice president and chief academic officer, told The Commercial Appeal reported.

LeMoyne-Own College is holding a meeting for students at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Alma C. Hanson student center at its campus at 807 Walker Ave.  The school wants students to bring copies of unofficial transcripts and financial aid award information. Christian Brothers University is offering information sessions starting Monday, March 17 through Thursday, March 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. each day in Buckman Hall on the CBU campus, 650 East Parkway South.

"We are very concerned about those students whose educational careers have been potentially interrupted," Tony Ross, dean of CBU's College of Adult Professional Studies said in a statement. "We really want to help, and we'll do what we can to make sure they can continue to pursue their college degrees."

Officials at Christian Brothers University said their sessions are open to any student who wants to transfer to the university, but that they're geared toward Victory University students. Students are also asked to bring a copy of their current college transcript to this information session.
