The 'broke college student story may sound like a myth until you run into financial deadlocks on campus. Fortunately, there are many jobs and part-time gigs you can venture into as a campus student. Research indicates that 70% of campus students in the United States have a part-time side hustle that sustains their daily financial needs. In case you are wondering what these jobs are, here is a list of the most preferred jobs for college students.

1. Be a nanny

Are you good with babies and children? Well, there are many families in urban centres that could use your services as a babysitter. Regulations in the U.S. and many other countries forbid parents from leaving their children and young teenagers unattended at home. If this is something you are good at, why not give it a shot? The job is less demanding and can be paid in hourly terms.

    2. Petcare

If you love pets, especially dogs, you can spend your leisure time hanging out with them and get paid for it. Many people get so busy with their lives that they lack the time to take their dogs for that occasional walk.

You can work with different families within the same locality as a dog walker as the job takes a short time and is flexible. Alternatively, you could check-in at the nearest kennels and enquire about a part-time job as a cleaner, walker or care provider.

      3. Offer home care services

There are dozens of quality home care facilities such as Husky Senior Care, where you can use your spare time offering home care services to the eledrely in the community around the campus.

        4. Bartender

Spending several hours a week behind a busy bar can earn you several dollars in the long run. Bartenders are usually on demand in the city suburbs around universities.

          5. Cab driver

If you own a car, you can register with your local authorities or a cab company as a cab driver. The job is entirely flexible, and you will only take customers in your free time.

            6. Barista

Students are coffeeholic, and you will always find coffee outlets dotting campus neighbourhoods. Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts could use your services in these regions. You are not limited to being a barista; you can be a junior cook, or serve at a fast-food restaurant such as Mcdonalds.

              7. Tutor

If you excel in specific academic subjects, you can tutor your colleagues for a fee. Additionally, you can extend your teaching services to the neighbouring communities, where you can be tutoring high school students.

                8. Freelancer

If you have any soft skills such as copywriting, graphic design and computing, you can search for gigs through online freelance platforms such as Upwork and Fiverr. Freelancing is a great way to horn your skills while studying.

                  Endnote

Tough times call for tough actions. If your schoolwork is more demanding, it is unwise to sacrifice it for these side gigs. You can always consider other funding options such as student loans.
