Dark modes in your smart phone apps are becoming a fad and nowadays Instagram is trying to keep abreast with the latest styles being popularized by its social media counterparts especially Twitter. Facebook is also reportedly testing a dark mode option that they might release in the near future. Facebook Messenger, however, has the new dark mode option as well.

To keep up with the latest trend, Instagram has updated its dark mode support for the newest iPhone iOS 13 system. This option however is only activated in iPhone models that have the said iOS 13 operating system.

The latest dark mode support has gained praises from avid social media users, saying it has made their uploaded photos float and makes the color of pictures more vivid and vibrant. It is cooler with the eyes and the palette tends to look more clean and clearer.

The iPhone's iOS 13 update was launched last September 19, 2019. And with the many perks and speed improvements, surely social media would be much easier and faster as well. There were also patches and bug fixes released on September 30 and it made a lot of Apple Store apps more secure and safe for download.

iOS 13 is pre-installed on the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Max. For later iPhone models, you can install the iOS 13 update on the following phones, namely: iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and the iPhone XS Max.

There are health advantages as well in using the dark mode option in your iPhone's Instagram app. You can avoid straining your eyes, you can easily go to sleep at night and it can lessen the screen's blue light emission which is a type of harmful radiation.

The entire iOS 13 interface can actually turn into dark mode, turning the background into black instead of the usual white and inverting black texts into white to enhance readability and save more battery life. Nevertheless, the new Instagram dark mode support can be turned on with the following 3 easy steps:

1.       Go to your Settings app in your Instagram;

2.       Tap Display & Brightness;

3.       Tap the Dark button, and voila! You have your dark mode set up.

Instagram actually respects the iOS 13 dark mode settings, so the app would not have a problem with conforming to the new update.

The amazing thing though that the Apple brand did not miss is scheduling the modes for day time and night time. There are two contrasting options that you can use depending on the time of day which is the Light mode and the Dark mode.

To set a schedule, if you feel like using both, go to your iPhone settings. Click Display and Brightness. When you are there, below the two modes there is an option button. Click the Options button and click on the Custom Schedule button so that you can set the hour when the Dark mode option could turn itself on automatically. Just make sure you have turned your Instagram Dark mode on in the app itself.
