Blizzard has generously revealed that the original classic "StarCraft" and its great expansion "Brood War" will now be available to download for free without any strings attached. The game company celebrated due to its incoming "StarCraft: Remastered" version.

"StarCraft" And "Brood War" Now Free

Fans of the old classic "StarCraft" and "StarCraft: Brood War" are in for a treat due to the latest news coming from Blizzard. They have recently patched the classic game with new features and now they are all free to download, according to the official website of the PC game.

The game company notes that when the fans patch "StarCraft," they should use the Run as Admin option. They said that it is required during their first client run to migrate the saves and it can avoid the issues from the Windows system admin changes.

"StarCraft" Patch 1.18 Added New Features

Aside from the great news of making the two "StarCraft" games free, Blizzard also patched them to add new features and some improvements. The patch added a windowed fullscreen or windowed mode, which is useful for switching windows, Polygon reported.

The patch added the UTF -8 support, cursor clamping in-game while windowed, the Popular Maps, and new options to display actions per minute. It also added the observer mode, and opponent information when joining a game lobby.

Esports Games Like "StarCraft II" Will Become A Medal Event

In other "StarCraft" related news, the competitive video game will become a medal sport for the first time ever at the 2022 Asian Games. These games like "StarCraft II" will appear as a demonstration event at the 2018 edition of the next Asian Games, which will be held in Indonesia, according to the official website of the Olympic Council of Asia.

Exports will be held at the upcoming Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games as some sort of preview. One of the confirmed games to appear is "FIFA 2017," but there will be other games like "League of Legends" and "StarCraft II."
