The University of Phoenix will be awarding six full-tuition scholarships for security management professionals.

In collaboration with the ASIS Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering research and education opportunities that enhance the security profession, the university will be awarding scholarships that will build on the ASIS Foundation's commitment to research, education and future workforce development.

"We look forward to awarding scholarships to security professionals who represent the best and brightest from the security sector - those with a commitment to advancing their knowledge, skills and abilities in the practice of security," Dr. Linda Florence, president of ASIS Foundation Board of Trustees, said in a statement.

Recipients will have the opportunity to complete an undergraduate or master's degree program at University of Phoenix's online campus or any of its ground campuses, according to a press release.

In a prepared statement, Bill Pepicello, president of University of Phoenix, said the collaborating with ASIS Foundation will advance training for scholarship recipients in the security profession and enhance the institution's curriculum.

"The ASIS Foundation is at the forefront of a rapidly changing, vital field, which spans public and private enterprise. We are extremely gratified to collaborate with their experts to not only advance training for these scholarship recipients, but to enhance our own instructional design in our School of Business, College of Criminal Justice and Security and College of Information Systems and Technology," he said.

The ASIS Foundation is committed to the success of security professionals and their overall growth in the field. Scholarship recipients will be chosen by an ASIS member and staff panel, which will evaluate applications and essays submitted by scholarship candidates.

Applications for the 2014 University of Phoenix ASIS Foundation Scholarship are currently being accepted. The deadline is April 15, 2014. Those interested in applying can visit phoenix.edu/SecureYourFuture.
