After more than a decade with Valve Software, writer Erik Wolpaw left the company. The news came into light upon his Facebook updated info.

Reasons for Wolpaws sudden departure from Valve were not known, he still has to issue a statement on why the suddenly left. His resignation follows that of Mark Laidlaw, another influential and former Valve Writer just a little over a year ago.

Laidlaw left Valve who felt he had to take a break from collaborative and usually chaotic game production. He also plans to delve more into self-directed writing projects.

Wolpaw started working with Valve Software in 2004. He is credited to have written, "Portal" and "Portal 2" and two episodic add-ons for "Half-Life 2" for Valve Software. He is also credited to have contributed to Valve games "Left 4 Dead and "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive," as well as co-written The Team Fortress comics.

His latest work involves being a contributor to "Psychonauts 2" for Double Fine Productions. The original "Psychonauts" won Game Developers Choice Award for best writing in 2016. Psychonauts , on the other hand, "Psychonaught 2" is slated for a 2018 release date.

According to Polygon, Wolpaw's exit may cause a blow to story-driven games at Valve. Earlier reports state that Valve is working on three full immersion VR games. With Wolpaw's departure, these games may not have that much of a narrative content unlike "Half-Life" or "Portal," unless, he already finished the scripts prior to leaving Valve.

When asked what will he do from hero on, he replied he plans to work for his niece's juice shop in Cleveland? It is speculated though that he might continue working on "Psychonauts 2." He is credited as one of the writers for Double Fine's, Psychonaught2, according to Eurogamer.

Updates to this report will be posted as soon as details become available.
