Talks have been circulating lately concerning Nintendo considering offering GameCube titles to the Nintendo Switch Virtual Console. The allusion was intensified when Nintendo Switch deputy general manager Yoshiaki Koizumi acceded that those rumors may be true.

The rumor stems from a recent interview Koizumi had with French publication Melty, he teased that the company was working on something along the lines of having GameCube titles play on the Nintendo Switch. However, he also said that it could not be taken at face value since nothing has been officially announced yet. Yet he stressed that they are working on things that might lead to that direction, according to Polygon.

Far from being an official confirmation, it at least gives players a glimpse of what might come to the Nintendo Switch in having classic Nintendo games given new breath in its latest flagship hybrid console. The Wii U had Virtual Console support for almost all early consoles Nintendo had, it is not clear at this point if the same support for all those systems will be carried over to the Nintendo Switch.

Even without final confirmation as of yet, of a GameCube Virtual Console for the Nintendo Switch, Game Revolution reported a wish list of GameCube titles it wants to see on the Nintendo Switch. Additionally, it asked readers to add to the list of must-haves they would like to see on the hybrid.

Still, there are reports that instead of a GameCube Virtual Console, Nintendo might opt for remakes of these games. It indicated price points for a cherry-picked remake such as "Super Mario Sunshine" might mean $50-$60 price points rather than something cheaper when it is on Virtual Console.

Meanwhile, Nintendo general manager Shinya Takahashi discussed more on the future of GameCube on the Nintendo Switch, in the form of controller attachments. He says if Nintendo releases GameCube-style Joy-Con peripherals, it would sure include analog triggers.

The Nintendo Switch is due to be released on March 3. There is still more story to be had on Nintendo's Virtual Console initiative leading up to its release and soon after.
