"Pokémon Go" Valentine's Day Event is now live since Feb. 8 to 15 with more Pink Pokémon in the wild and more candy rewards for both trainer and buddy. However, the update also brought subtle changes in the egg hatching system which is now more spread out in both 5km and 2km tiers, indicating that the arrival of Gen 2 Pokémon may be happening soon.

Niantic has officially launched the Valentine's Day event for "Pokémon Go," which went live in Feb. 8. The update brings more Pink Pokémons like Chansey, Clefable, Porygon, Exeggcute, Jigglypuff and more. Hatching rates of Pink Pokémon have also increased and players will now easily hatch Cleffa, Smoochum or Igglybuff from eggs.

Candy rewards are also doubled every time a Pokémon is caught hatched or transferred. The Buddy Pokémon gets to find candy twice as fast as well. The said event will last until Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. PT.

Other notable changes in the event include the increased lure time from half an hour to six hours. This increases the chance of getting more Pokémon in Pokéstop without the need to walk further, Gadgets360 has learned.

However, the "Pokémon Go" Valentine's update also brought secret changes to the game's egg hatching system. Niantic has not mentioned these changes, which observers say may just be a glitch or a temporary switch while the event is live.

Whether temporary or not, the migration of some Pokémon from different tiers has rebalanced the game in favor of the players. Pinsir, Onix, and Scyther are frequently hatched Pokémon that have moved from the 10km to the 5km tier. With the 10km tier less crowded, players are now able to find the truly good ones like Lapras, Snorlax, Terodacytl and Dratini.

Also, there are now more Pokémon hatching in the 2km tier, which could mean more eggs hatching at a faster pace. Previously, this particular tier only has eggs of birds and bugs, which finders often hope to be a starter or a Clefairy. With more eggs in this tier, it may be much harder to find a starter, the only downside to this reshuffling.

Observers say that the changes may be permanent for Niantic may be setting up the game for something big. By spreading out the eggs, the 10km and 5km tiers are now less crowded and giving more space for the coming of the Gen 2 Pokémon. Players expect Niantic to deliver the entirely new ecosystem of Pokémon into the game in a month or two, Forbes reported.
