Coming up on its 10^th anniversary, Apple is coming up with a rumored offering that comes with cutting-edge features and new design, with one caveat, a hefty price.

The 10^th-anniversary edition of the iPhone is reportedly going to cost more than $1,000, making the iPhone 8 the most expensive commercial handset the firm has ever produced, The Daily Mail reported. However, the rumored price point for the new iPhone is not all that surprising, considering there is a 256GB iteration of the iPhone 7 Plus retails for $969.

Reportedly, the iPhone 8 will feature a new OLED bezel-less display with 3D sensing that would probably cost more to produce than what is used in current iPhones. Additionally, the iPhone 8 is expected to get a memory upgrade, which would again add to its base price.

Accordingly, the chassis of the new iPhone 8 will be made of forged stainless steel with a back panel made of glass, corroborating what KGI securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously said. It is also expected to sport a rear dual-camera.

iPhone 8 camera capability

One of the published capabilities of the iPhone 8 camera is its ability to optimize capture of focus stacks. It simply means, focus stacking will bring with it significant improvements to the current faux bokeh mode that is present on the iPhone 7 Plus.

The feature brings depth map creation for augmented reality applications, according to c|net. Additionally, the new feature would also allow for choosing the focus area, creating such photos without bokeh. The result would be a rich sharp focus all throughout the image, called infinite depth of field.

Stacking photos would allow the camera to take multiple photos and to combine them into one to produce the desired effect. It combines a stack of images and collecting the sharpest pixel from each to create one completely sharp image.
