This year's incarnation of the venerable MLB series, "MLB The Show 17" is coming up with Retro Mode.

"MLB The Show 17" scheduled for release on March 29 for the PlayStation 4, is one of the most realistic and accurate sports simulation game ever released on the PlayStation 4. However, the game is not always that easy to control according to Digital Trends, a new Retro Mode makes playing the game so much easier that it is practically a one button game.

Retro Mode allows players to play the game as if it were in the simpler time of 8-bit gaming. Playstation.blog reported that playing "MLB The Show 17" in Retro Mode is pretty much a one-button mode. The only difference one can see on screen is its surprising depth, not present in 2D flat representation from gaming of yore. All animations, gameplay additions, and additions present in the regular version of the game are all intact.

Pitching a ball is simpler after breaking it down to just three elements namely, velocity, break, and control. The player has three pitches that can be triggered by a simple press of one button. Throwing a fastball is simplified by holding down the left analog stick and pressing X to throw a pitch.

Hold the game controller analog stick up and pressing X allows the player to throw a changeup. Slider pitches are executed by holding the analog stick left or right after the pitch is released. Controlling the velocity of the pitch is done by pressing the game controller analog stick up or down just before releasing the ball.

Customers who pre-order "MLB The Show 17" will receive 10 bonus Standard Packs along with a Ken Griffey Jr. card and the buyer receives an 11,000 Stubs for The Show 16. Additionally, pre-ordering the game at GameStop/EB games will be rewarded with an additional five Standard Packs bring the total up to 15.
