The long overdue comeback of "Rick and Morty" has left fans in a quandary if Season 3 will ever be aired. "Rick and Morty" co-creator Dan Harmon, speaking at Sundance Film Festival explains why the season is taking so long to be aired.

Speaking at the Sundance Film Festival last Sunday, series co-creator Harmon put the blame on himself for causing "Rick and Morty's" delay. He said that if his co-creator Justin Roiland were there, he would agree, according to the Independent.

Based on the interview, the cause of the major delay of "Rick and Morty," aside from bungling up, is that they are finding that it is taking longer to write the series, and they have no clue why, according to Screen Crush. A factor revealed by Harmon that might have contributed to this is that the two creators have apparently been increasingly fighting.

Without citing what the two fights about, Harmon said they fought all the time, and even fight about why they are fighting. Accordingly, they had no such incidents during "Rick and Morty" Season 2 and he initially attributed to these fights as to why the series is taking longer to finish.

Apparently, Harmon clarified his earlier statements via a 15 point series of Tweets, with one stating "the fights" are not the cause of "Rick and Morty's" delay. And another to clarify, by fights, he meant pertaining to the content of the show, like what jokes to do. He added that their love for their weird show is a struggle for them not to over think or underthink. To see the entire series of Tweets, follow the first Tweet below.

What Harmon stresses though is that artists are currently drawing "Rick and Morty" without providing any updates on exactly where every episode is in the pipeline. Another reason why they do so is that they believe it is out of their jurisdiction to discuss schedules, citing it is Adult Swim's domain and totally unrelated to their work.

As such, he said he does not have a release date for "Rick and Morty" Season 3 saying it's not that he knows or not allowed to say, however, it is Adult Swims call. This statement clearly indicates the studio is not rushing the creators as well. He refused to provide further details, citing: "I don't want to get murdered outside this building."
