ZTE has slammed by the backers of Kickstarter when the crowd sourced smartphone with the formal name Hawkeye appears to be far from what they are expecting because the Project CSX phone has turned out to be a mid-ranged Android phone without anything special to get the attention of the consumers. ZTE Hawkeye or Project CSX Phone and the Disappointed Backers

Last year, the crowd has fervently requested ZTE for a hands-free operated phone that works even if it is attached in a vertical surface. The first thing that comes to the mind of the manufacturer is a phone that can capture commands from the users through the eyes and a self-adhesive one.

Everyone was excited when ZTE presented the proposal to the crowd and although the Chinese manufacturing firm did not laid down the details of the specs, the crowd presumed that the company will give them the best phone in the world. And when the Project CSX Phone or ZTE Hawkeye was presented to the public, disappointed has become apparent because the phone turned out to be an average one akin to a mid-range Android phone, Slash Gear reported.

Looking through the reaction of the crowd, ZTE has reportedly explained themselves to the crowd about their desire to produce an affordable but quality phone. And although ZTE has justified their side to provide a quality phone in an affordable price, the idea that the phone lacks the innovation didn't sit well with the crowd.

ZTE Promises Upgrades for Hawkeye

ZTE has reportedly ask for help from the crowd for the upgrades they promised to deliver for Hawkeye such as processor upgrade to Snapdragon 825 (the latest high-end mobile chipset), higher memory and longer battery life. However, ZTE told The Verge in an interview during CES that the company haven't figure out how to do the eye-tracking technology and the self-adhesive feature.

Nonetheless, the phone's original specs include Android Nougat, Dual rear-facing 12MP and 13MP camera, Snapdragon 625 processor, 3000 mAh battery, Dual SIM option, 256GB expandable memory, 5.5-inch screen and rear fingerprint sensor. Preorders are available in Kickstarter at $199.
