Marvel's "The Inhumans" is going to open big. After landing the new TV series with ABC, the show is planned to open with its first two episodes in IMAX theaters in September.

After abandoning plans for an "Inhumans" film feature, The Comic Book Studio teamed with ABC for an eight-episode live-action drama series scheduled to begin in IMAX on Sept. 26. Reportedly, the first two episodes will debut in IMAX theaters and run for two weeks before moving to ABC, where the remaining six episodes will be aired.

Marvel, ABC and IMAX tapped feature director Roel Reiné to helm the first two episodes of "The Inhumans," The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Reiné was born in Netherlands and the director of the critically acclaimed and financially successful films, "The Delivery," and the historical Dutch adventure "Admiral." He recently directed an episode for "Black Sails" for Starz. APA, Circle of Confusion, and Morris Yorn represent Reiné.

Though there is no detailed synopsis yet for the coming "The Inhumans" series, however, sources revealed that it would explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the Attilan Royal Family, Screen Rant reported. It is therefore highly likely to see the inclusion of Medusa, Gorgon, Karnak, and Lockjaw in the coming series.

Who are "The Inhumans?"

"The Inhumans" were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby back in 1965 and since then have become popular characters in the Marvel Universe for having diverse and singularly unique powers.

Highlighting "The Inhumans" in theaters would mark the first time a series to debut in such fashion and a first for IMAX who will also serve as a financing participant on the pilot. Accordingly, "The Inhumans" TV series will be filmed entirely using IMAX cameras.

"The Inhumans" marks ABC's third Marvel series, following "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Agent Carter." Additional information about "The Inhumans" TV series is provided in the video below.
