Both Google's Pixel XL and Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge are on the top-end of 5.5-inch Android handsets anyone can get now, given the popularity of larger sized screen units, pitting these two units against each other seemed inevitable.

Comparing the Pixel XL against the Galaxy S7 Edge seems like comparing a neophyte with a seasoned veteran. The Pixel, after all, is Google's first true outing while Samsung has been at it for quite some time now. Both phones, at the onset, seems comparable, both having Quad HD panels, 12MP cameras, 4GB of RAM, high-end processors, and similar price points.

Pixel XL comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box, while Galaxy S7 Edge is getting an update soon. However, Pixel XL offers set-apart options you cannot find on other Android 7.0 updates for other phones.

The US version of the Galaxy S7 Edge comes with a Snapdragon 820 chipset, the Pixel XL levels it up with a Snapdragon 821. Both phones have 4GB RAM and 32 GB storage. Adding $100 gets 128GB storage for the Pixel XL while Samsung expands memory via microSD, that is absent in Pixel.

The Google Pixel XL can stand its ground against the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge in all areas including the camera. However, in terms of elegance and functionality than stock Nougat, Samsung is the clear winner. The advantage Pixel has is that it will always get priority with Android updates, according to Android Authority.

Expandable storage, faster charging, and waterproofing, the S7 gave it more value for the same price point.
