The "House of Cards" Season 5 will not be debuting on Jan. 20, Donald Trump's Inauguration Day, as previously speculated since the political drama often follows real-life political events. Instead, a Netflix shareholder's letter revealed that the air date has been moved to the second quarter of the year, most likely debuting on April.

There have been no official announcements made on the "House of Cards" Season 5 particularly on its air date. The first three seasons were released late in February while Season 4 had a mid-March debut.

It is not surprising then that a post by Vaynshteyn in Twitter started the rumor that the "House of Cards" Season 5 will debut on Trump's Inauguration Day scheduled on Jan. 20. The Netflix political drama has been known to follow real-life political events, which made the speculation logical.

However, a recent Netflix shareholder's letter has revealed that the "House of Cards" Season 5 debut will be moved from first to the second quarter of the year. This could mean that the air date will be either in April, May or June 2017 with April as the most likely period based on the previous seasons' releases, according to Screencrush.

It will not be long now before fans will see what the Underwoods will be up to in the "House of Cards" Season 5. Season 4 has left many unresolved scenarios that the new season will be hard pressed to unravel.

Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) has secured the seat of the vice-president, which reveals her own political ambitions coming to fruition. Moreover, she is one seat away from the highest position in the land and may try to unseat her husband, Frank (Kevin Spacey) in the "House of Cards" Season 5.

Claire would naturally learn from the best as Frank has been known to use underhanded and even bloody means to hold on to power. Though the Underwoods are in an open relationship, Frank may find ways to get rid of Thomas Yates (Paul Spark), the lover of his wife and his soon-to-be-next victim in the "House of Cards" Season 5, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

There may also be a potential core character who will meet an untimely death as teased by Michael Kelly who plays Doug Stamper, Frank's closest ally. Previous season's additions Neve Campbell and Joel Kinnamon will return while guest stars, Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott, will be featured heavily in the "House of Cards" Season 5.
